Fuckin’ Movin’ Blues

So, before I jetted back across country to resume my humdrum life, I was in NYC for three days following the NYC excursion. And here’s how that went. First, we were booked at one hotel for the entire three days, but when we got there, the chic at the desk wouldn’t let us check in…
Here we are with this title that sounds so stereotypical, but, with Fringe and the Military Tattoo taking place while we were in Edinburgh, was actually quite literal. There were bagpipes. Many. Also hills. Those too were most literal. And some serious ass-busters. Anyway Edinburgh… my haggis, what can I say? A smallish sort of city with organic restaurants and an organic grocery…
Some Sunday nights are pretty average. Like this one. Did some writing. Did some grocering. Watched some Adventure Time. Dined on potato soup. Attempted to exercise my booty to optimal. That king of thing. Some Sunday nights you hear Mavis Staples and Bonnie Raitt sing Will the Circle Be Unbroken, and you smile so hard…
Magic, I find, happens where you least expect it. That’s the oldest magician’s trick, isn’t it? A little misdirection to divert the audience’s attention. “Look here! I almost choked when I read Allentown – as I live about 45 minutes away in the Scranton area. Upside, it’s an easy trip to new york – buses and trains are uber cheap if you don’t want to drive. Downside, farms. And things close early. But I hope you enjoy Pennsylvania!
Cool. We looked in Scranton. We are definitely looking forward to the short drive/travel into New York and Philly being less than an hour away. Thanks for the welcome.
I’m sorry people suck, but welcome back to the East Coast.
Are you seriously moving to Allentown? I live in Allentown. No fuckin way. Too weird. Well we can have a mini VS convention..lmao
I cracked up when I read Allentown. I swear it’s a west coast move east coast thing. Two years ago when I was moving from Portland, OR I moved to Bethlehem (just east of Allentown) because it was the most affordable place I could find.
I then moved out here to Chicago.
Not anything against the area… just, I missed being in a city.
My suggestion for going to the city would be either to bus it (about $20 and two hours) or to drive to Harrison, NJ and take the PATH in. Gross, but well… it is Harrison. 🙂
Good luck in A-town. It is less smoggy, at least.
