7 Things: Intrigues #6 – Drag Queens

Drag Queens

Here on this side of the season finale of my new favorite show RuPaul’s Drag Race, I’d like to discuss my most recent intrigue – the wondrous anomalies that are true drag queens.

I have been to a couple of drag performances in my time – one where fellow attendee Chely Wright was whooping it up (ah, those were the days) and one where there were a couple of queens who, between their real breasts and perfectly flawless faces, were so damn womanly, I couldn’t imagine them as men.

This womanly physical appearance, though impressive, is not my true drag queen intrigue. What amazes me just a little bit more every time I watch them for an extended period is how they manage to exude such unbelievable femininity.

I feel like, if I were to cut off my hair and put on the right clothes, I could totally pull off “dude” physically. But I don’t think I could ever be truly male in my mannerisms. In short, I think I would be an incredibly girly guy.

Of course, not all drag queens, even at Drag Race level, capture the essence of woman beyond physical appearance. But some of them do so to an extent that is simply unreal. I don’t know whether it’s an inherent attribute or incredible skill, but it’s damn impressive either way.

Also, off-topic but distantly related, I was thinking the other day that a pre-op male-to-female transexual is almost a perfect fusion for bisexuals. If I were a “3” on the Kinsey scale, I think she would be my ideal mate.

And now, RuPaul’s “Glamazon” video, ’cause this song is just so damn catchy!
