Close Calls Make Great First Kisses – WMC Fic
PAIRING: Lindsay/Cindy
DISCLAIMER: Characters, not mine. Story, mine.
“Do you see now why you should respect the barricades?” Lindsay asked, dabbing ointment across the two-inch wound with a cotton swab.
Cindy winced, more from Lindsay’s tone of voice than the physical pain.
“You’re mad, aren’t you?”
“Yes. I’m mad. Believe it or not, I don’t like it when my friends get shot.”
“It barely grazed me.”
“I know. That’s why I’m wrapping you up here instead of you being rushed to the hospital right now,” Lindsay responded, winding a roll of gauze around Cindy’s bicep. “Do you have a complete inability to do what I ask you to do?”
“You said that you would come back and you didn’t.”
“I didn’t not come back. There was a little skirmish with a crazy man I had to take care of first.”
“I was worried.”
Lindsay ripped a piece of medical tape off the roll with her teeth.
“That’s sweet,” she said, momentarily sincere. “But what were you going to do? Poke him with your pen? You could have been killed.”
“You could have been killed,” Cindy reasoned.
“But I have a gun, which alters that probability.”
Lindsay ripped off another piece of tape and added it to the bandage.
“Okay, I get it. I messed up,” Cindy sighed. “But I did get shot. I’d say, lesson learned. So… anything else?”
“Yeah.”
Lindsay tossed the supplies in her hand onto the bench beside her, took Cindy’s face in her hands and brought their lips together. Cindy gasped softly and raised her hand to the back of Lindsay’s. She was aware of every nerve fiber in her lips and then the kiss ended all too soon for her liking.
“I should get back to work,” Lindsay said as Cindy opened her eyes.
She got to her feet and headed for the open doors of the ambulance. But Cindy gave a small tug on the hand she still had in her possession and Lindsay looked back at her. After a few seconds, Lindsay’s lips quirked upward in a smile.
“Sit tight. When we’re done with the crime scene, I’ll give you a ride home.”
Cindy smiled back and relinquished the hand. Lindsay stepped down to the ground and looked back in at her.
“Stay here,” she said emphatically.
Cindy lifted the tips of her fingers to her eyebrow in a salute, and watched Lindsay disappear around the side of the ambulance. Never would she have guessed when that bullet was coming at her that this would be the best night of her life.
Great start!!!!Is this just going to be a one shot?I hope not i’d really like to see what happens next!:)I really like how well you write Lindsey and Cindy I can really see them having the conversations they do in your stories.
No more of this one I’m afraid. It was always meant to be a one-shot.
I’d love to see one where the roles are reversed and Cindy takes care of an injured Lindsay. 🙂
