A Trophy, a Magazine & a Trip to Hawaii
I’m not dead. That’s the good news or bad news, depending on your like or dislike of me and how much you wish that I would be purged from the Earth for your own personal sanity. I may, however, have suffered slight brain death from writing far too much craptastic money-making nonsense, instead of my own poverty-inducing works of fiction. But, alas, you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do.
I have done a couple of most excellent things this month though. On March 3rd, we went to see David Ford at World Cafe Live. So unbelievably excellent. Halfway through his set, I came to the realization that I want to make out with anyone whose newest instrument is an old drawer. He’s got a few dates left on his U.S. tour, including a return to World Cafe Live on March 25th. Go here for awesome musicianship.
Wednesday, we went to see Annie Parisse in Clybourne Park. She was truly phenomenal. Truly. Her Marlee Matlin impersonation is unreal. I kid because I watched Reasonable Doubt for its entire run due to my Marlee Matlin crush. In fact, the entire cast was really, really excellent… except for this one person who, well, wasn’t. On a positive note for this person though, while it was difficult for anyone to truly stand out in such an outstanding cast, this person really stood out… like a sunflower of suckage amidst a field of less obtrusive, far superior sunflowers. Remember, when you want to be noticed, there are always two ways you can go.
I received a package in the mail a few weeks ago that I didn’t know was coming. As is common in these parts, the package was simply taken to the office without anyone checking to see if, perhaps, we might be home to accept said package. But that’s another story with more naughty words. So, we get to the office and it’s from Creative Screenwriting. I’m like “Cool. My DVDs.” But when I opened it, it was actually this –
Which is kind of cool, I think.
I do kinda wish that it had my name on it. Because, as it is, it looks as if I was either legitimately given this particular award or like I kicked some love story-writin’ ho in heels in the back of the knees while she was leaving the expo, grabbed her award and took off, knowing that she couldn’t come after me… at least not with any speed. Which I would never do… Or would I?
I also did an interview back in January that is in the March/April issue of Creative Screenwriting if anyone wants to give it a read. The magazine is in the literary section of some (and I do mean only some) Barnes and Nobles. Or, you can read it for free right here. I’m on page 10. I feel so incredibly uncomfortable doing interviews, but I thank Shari for being so gentle. It barely even hurt.
Thursday, we leave for 11 days in Hawaii and 10 days in Cali. I really hope, by the time we get back, spring will have pummeled winter’s ass right out of the arena. I like snow, I like winter clothes, I like holiday decoration, but this particular winter has seriously made me think about retiring to Ft. Lauderdale and playing shuffleboard for the remainder of my days.
Very cool! Your Oscar is gonna look very nice next to it. π I know I’m relentless and it’s annoying. Adorably annoying, right?
You guys have a wonderful time. Aloha!
This is the kind of relentless I can handle π I appreciate you keeping the faith. It’s nice to know someone’s got a reserve, if I should happen to run out.

π There would be much sadness in my life if you were purged from the Earth.
Cool! Have fun on your vaca!
Lovin’ the award! I think I have a label maker around here somewhere- ya know, if you want me to put your name on it for ya! :)~
Great interview, by the way.
