I agree with your comments generally, and any quick look at Yahoo answers or similar will find any number of examples where at least half the people answering have no idea. However, in this instance, the majority is correct. The answer is 10 because (without brackets), the multiplication is done before the addition. That is 10 + 10 x 0 = 10 + 0 = 10.
And so it is 🙂 Now I’m the person who has been too long out of math class. I have no excuse other than paying too little attention or being too stupid. I’m not sure which.
Oh, and I can still figure the hell out of an average or percentage.

I appreciate it 🙂 But I do believe that doing bad math while making fun of other people’s bad math is the definition of doucheballery.
