Lauritzen Gardens & Kenefick Park

August 21st, 2008 by Riley

My poor little tootsies suffered the dozens and dozens of acres it took to walk Lauritzen Gardens (still in Omaha) today.

It was hot and it was sweaty, but it was certainly pretty. For the most part at least.

There could have been slightly better maintenance (most of the roses in the rose garden had either never bloomed or were already dead!), and I could have done without the sprinklers being on, forcing us to outrun them and leaving me with moist shoes, but the train village was truly a sight to behold. All carved from natural sources and highly impressive.

And speaking of trains -

There be some big’uns at Kenefick Park, right there on the gardens property.

These things were truly massive. It was kind of intimidating just standing next to them. I loved it!

And now, for all of you, some lily pads.

Oh…

- and a bee.

Bzzzzzzzzz.
