If you are into art museums and maybe if you like to splash in a little culture on your vacations there is an art museum in Texas that you will want to check out the next time that you find yourself in the area. The museum in question is the Stark Museum of Art which is actually located in the city of Orange, Texas. The Stark Museum of Art is actually a great place to visit if you are curious about the art of the American West. They have several collections at the Stark Museum of Art that explore the art of the American West. You can view collections pertaining to the art of the American West by having a look at their exhibits of Western Art, American Indian Art, Decorative Arts, and Rare Books and Manuscripts. At the Stark Museum of Art you will find paintings, sculptures and prints from the 19th and 20th centuries that depict the American West experience. You can actually learn more about these exhibits that you will find in the Stark Museum of Art by checking out their website at www.starkmuseum.org and clicking on “collections” to read more about each collection that they have on exhibit at the Stark Museum of Art. The collection of works which are now housed in the Stark Museum of Art were collected by Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark. And they actually started the Stark Foundation in 1961. Its purpose is to enrich the quality of life in Southeast Texas through education and arts. And eventually the Stark Museum of Art opened up in 1978. And the Stark Museum of Art actually still acquires pieces for its collection to this day!
