Make money with your blog with SocialSpark

May 6th, 2008 by Riley

Making money off of your blog is pretty sweet. I mean, if you are already blogging anyways then why not make a little cash on the side, right? Well, SocialSpark, which is the newest offering of sites that pay you to blog about this or that is finally live. The release of SocialSpark was anticipated by a lot of people as all of the links that you get from SocialSpark have the ‘no follow’ tag so that you do not get the old page rank spanking from Google like I got many months ago. Well, I really love that ‘no follow’ thing on SocialSpark. And the things that I do love about SocialSpark is a very short list. One of the things that I like is that they allow you to reserve a slot for an opp in the event that you have missed out on an opp. This is great as you do not have to sit and hit refresh all day long. At the top of the list of dislikes for SocialSpark is their dynamic pricing model. See, you might sign onto SocialSpark and see an opp for $27.50 that is full and then sign up on the waiting list for that opp. Now, you might assume that when you get up to the top of that waiting list that you will get paid that $27.50, which is what it was when you reserved it. Wrong! Dynamic pricing says that if the demand is up then the price goes down and vice versa. So, while it was going for $27.50 when I reserved a spot, it was offered to me for only $5.50. That is kind of insulting. I have had that happen with several opps on SocialSpark. Not only is the price insulting, but they want 250 words and a top ranked blog (like this one) for the opps. Definitely insulting and not worth the time. SocialSpark is set up to be more of a community as well, which I have no real opinion on as that does not appeal to me. User create profiles, like THE MOM WITH BROWNIES so that they can interact with other bloggers. Overall, I am not that impressed with SocialSpark. I am more a fan of their sister site, which paid me for this little observation. But, if you want to make money from your blog you might want to check it out for yourself.
