If you are looking for a cool place to visit for an upcoming vacation or a short trip on Memorial Day weekend then I have a place for you to check out. If you will be in the Orange, Texas area then you should stop by the Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center for the afternoon or even spend the day there. The Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is a really cool place and it is located in Orange, Texas. You will find the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center spread out on a little over 250 acres of land. And there is no shortage of plant species at the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. In fact, you will find that there are over 300 plant species to be found at the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. You will also find a bird blind at the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center where you can see the birds that are nesting at the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center presently. What is interesting about the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is that it is actually first project out of Texas, and only the 50th project in the entire world, to earn the U.S. Green Building Council’s Platinum certification for LEED®-NC. What this means is that the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center has reached the highest green building and performance measures in both the design and the construction of the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. That means that the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is a super eco-friendly place! The earth friendly Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center features all sorts of cool stuff in the Nature Center. There you can see things like the hands-on Nature Discovery center exhibit and a lab. You will also find a theater, a children’s garden, greenhouses, a cafe and more at the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in Orange, Texas. Admission to the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is reasonably priced. It is only $6.00 for adults to enter the botanical gardens, $5.00 for seniors and kids age 13-17, and $4.00 for kids ages 4 to 12. Kids ages three and under are able to enter for free with a parent or guardian. The Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is open Tuesdays through Sundays and does close for some holidays. Be sure to check their website for hours, as the hours vary depending on the season. You will also want to check the calendar on the website to see if anything special is going on. For instance, there are some special things going on this week due to Earth Day being tomorrow.
