Be Oyster Aware

March 19th, 2008 by Riley

Do you like to eat Gulf oysters when you get a chance? If so you need to remember to be somewhat careful about eating raw or under cooked oysters. You know, oysters are a great source of protein, they are low calorie and they also offer up a nice dose of zinc, vitamin B-12, and omega-3 fatty acids. So as you can see, oysters are not all that bad for you so you should not be scared of eating them you should just be a bit on the careful side when it comes to raw or undercooked oysters. Why? Well, because eating raw or undercooked oysters could cause you to get pretty sickly or even cause death from the Vibrio vulnificus bacteria. And if you have liver disease, diabetes or a weak immune system, then you should totally avoid raw oysters. That is why it is a good idea to be oyster aware! You can check out the oyster aware site for more info. And now - an oyster joke. What did one oyster say to the other oyster? Show me your pearl and I will show you mine. (insert laughter here)
