Madonna will be inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. It’s about damn time! I read this first on AOL, where a poll was part of the article. The question posed to readers was, paraphrasing here, “Do you think Madonna deserves her place in the Hall of Fame?” The response choices were, again paraphrasing, “Yes, her career is legend,” or “No, she’s too controversial.”
 
“Yes, she deserves it,” was winning by far, but 20% of people responded she was too controversial.
 
What in the hell does her being controversial have to do with her deserving her induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame? Madonna is the most successful female recording artist in history, she holds records in top tens, number ones, best-selling albums, and anything else that means anything in music. She is, arguably, the most influential artist in many of our lifetimes. Whatever controversy she may have attracted, there is no denying her impact.
 
Give her her damn place in the Hall of Fame, you righteous fuckers, and stop making it seem as if she isn’t worthy of it.
