Zachary Quinto, who has just begun to dabble in fame with his role of Sylar, the evil, head pop-topping mofo from Heroes, has been cast as Spock in the upcoming Star Trek movie (fast-tracked, of course, to beat the looming strikes). Apparently when Mr. Quinto heard that the film was being made, he shouted into the universe, “I want to be Spock.” Luckily, he was then cast as Spock; otherwise, he might have looked stupid. In an interview I read with the actor regarding the casting decision and how he kept telling everyone in the vicinity, in interviews, by email, etc. that he really wanted the role of Spock before he was cast, the interviewer said it was like The Secret. Now, I have not read The Secret, and neither, it seemed, had Zachary. But I do know The Secret. The law of attraction. What you want, what you try to attract to you, you attract. Apparently, since the interviewer knew the secret, it was easy to deduce that Zachary Quinto had attracted the role of Spock to him.
Logic check: There are thousands of wanna-be actors in Hollywood, hundreds of them already working there. Does anyone think that Zachary Quinto is the only young actor who had a hard-on to play Spock? Let’s say twenty actors wanted Spock badly enough that they told people about it. Maybe they told their moms or their chiropractors or their agents or even an interviewer. I’m certain some did. So, while the law of attraction brought Zachary Quinto a Star Trek win, nineteen other people lost.
The Secret? Life sucks. Don’t tell anyone.
